ABOUT BTCF

OUR MISSION

Breaking the Chains Foundation is committed to the prevention of body-focused and mental well-being stigmas. Our mission is to use the power of art and expression to foster creativity, build connections, and create a community in which individuals can thrive.

We do this by transforming research and personal stories into artistic programs aimed at increasing self-love, self-esteem, self-compassion, and self-awareness.

Tapping into those internal strengths and protective factors can greatly enhance mental, physical, and emotional health. Whereas experiencing stigma of mental health struggles, isolation, and the pressures of body-focused societal messages are examples of links in the chains that bind us. Our programs and advocacy are designed to Break these Chains!

ONE LINK AT A TIME

RAISING AWARENESS

The arts inspire and speak to our need to reveal, heal and transform. Through various art forms, one can explore their innermost thoughts and feelings. In that space, limitless potential soars.

EDUCATION, INTERVENTION & PREVENTION

Our programs engage, instill hope and encourage creativity. BTCF thinks "outside the box".

Led by a team of devoted, creative and values-driven professionals who represent the fields of mental health, physical health and wellness, business, and the fine arts, our programs are uniquely grounded in evidence-based psychology and artistic expression.

BTCF programming supports individuals across a wide range of lived experiences, including eating and body image struggles, mental health challenges, cancer survivorship, caregiving, isolation, anxiety, and loss of identity. Through creative education, prevention, intervention, and healing-centered programs, we work to reach people where they are, shift unhealthy conversations, and inspire connection, resilience, and hope.
